Hi, I am Marleen Gaillard (1966) and I am happy to welcome you to my website.
After finishing my PhD in Medical Biology from Leiden University, I have spent more than 25 years in the Life Science industry in multiple departments, including Clinical Development & Operations, R&D Drug Development, Regulatory Affairs, and Information Systems.
Throughout my career, I have gained a robust track record in drug development, leading organizational changes, establishing robust project/portfolio management methodologies and driving process optimization initiatives.
I have worked mostly in multicultural, virtual teams in global matrix organizations. This experience has provided me with invaluable insight into optimizing communication, collaboration, and decision-making in complex teams. I’ve led teams of highly educated and experienced professionals, which has taught me valuable lessons in “not knowing everything,” delegating tasks, and letting go of control.
In 2016 it was time for me to make a change and to focus more attention to improve how people communicate and work together. Since then, I have expanded my skill set by earning certifications as a Team Coach, Personal Leadership Coach and Trainer.
In 2017, I founded MG Life Science with the goal of offering my extensive experience to other Life Science Professionals that want to have more impact.
About my vision & mission
Lifescience organizations contribute to the well-being of patients by providing them with innovative and effective treatments, preferably as quickly and cost-effectively as possible. By doing so, it not only benefits patients sooner, but also controls the rising costs of healthcare.
I strongly believe that while robust scientific and technological expertise is necessary in this complex industry, excellent communication, good collaboration, and efficient decision-making are equally important skills. In my experience, the key to success is to improve the way “how” people work together. This is easier said than done and most of us have to learn this on the job.
My mission is to make coaching available to all Life Science Professionals, independent of their experience or jobtitle. I support ambitious, purpose-driven Life Science Professionals, to strengthen their leadership skills and build high-performance teams. Together we make a greater impact on the well-being of patients and their families!

About my coaching and training
As certified Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) Coach, I support Life Science Professionals to remove obstacles that are limiting them to have the impact they are looking for. I give insight in preferred personality styles (using DISC and/or other assessments), in limiting thinking patterns and I apply effective techniques to change unhelpful behaviours and thoughts.
As a certified Team Coach, I work with teams to give insight in limiting team dynamics and apply powerful interventions to get the energy flowing again.
As certified Trainer I design and lead workshops and training sessions where I share my knowledge about optimizing communication and collaboration and my hands-on experience as a leader in Life Science organizations.
About my consultancy
As solo-consultant, I’m available to help life science organisations with Drug Development and/or Clinical Project Management, establishing new Project Management Offices (PMO), leadership of process improvement initiatives and organizational changes.
As partner at Phraktion, I have the possibility to bring in teams of very senior experts to collaborate on assignments.
